an interview with the author of Audrey Hepburn: The Paramount Years

Tony Nourmand is not just an author; he's also an avid cinephile and co-owns The Reel Poster Gallery, which has a fantastic collection of vintage Audrey Hepburn cinema posters. There's an interview with him today at Payvand.com in which he talks about his previous books and how Audrey is very different from other cinema stars and his previous book subjects. You can read the whole interview here, and look through Audrey Hepburn: The Paramount Years here.

Audrey Hepburn: The Paramount Years is released!

For those of you who haven't marked every Audrey release on your calendar, Audrey Hepburn: The Paramount Years is now out! If you remember, there was a video review posted at the beginning of the month which had a good preview of what was in the book. That, along with the Search Inside! feature from Amazon, makes me very excited for this book. And now it's finally here! Click the link above to buy through Amazon.

Have you ever yearned to have a clawfoot bathtub- turned- couch like Holly Golightly did in Breakfast at Tiffany's? Now you can have your own, thanks to Flavour Design. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but I'm guessing it takes a lot of work to saw through a cast iron tub and then re-glaze it. If you do have that kind of cash, though, and want to really make your couch/tub Hollyish, simply buy about 3 yards of indigo fabric and about 2 yards of fuchia fabric and recover the cushions that came with this couch. Voila! Instant Holly style.

Last for today, The Sydney Morning Herald has an article about gamines, what exactly makes one, and who is one. Audrey is, of course, heavily featured. For more information about gamines or how to become one yourself, simply click here.

Note: I'm sorry for the gap in news here, but I had one last chance to visit my family for a long time, so I took it. Thanks for being understanding about this, and don't worry -- you didn't miss any big Audrey news. :)

book review of Audrey Hepburn: The Paramount Years

Thanks to chipmunkalvyne from The Audrey Hepburn Circle for pointing out that there's a videotaped review of Audrey Hepburn: The Paramount Years up on You Tube. The book won't be out in the US until the end of this month (March 29, to be exact), so it's exciting to get an Audrey fan's perspective on the book while also getting a sneak peek at all the pictures. Don't worry, there's enough of the book left unseen to make your first go-round with your own copy as exciting as ever.

You can pre-order here if you haven't already. And if you don't mind sneak peeks, Amazon has some fantastic previews up already.

Next up, Ray-Ban is having an advertising contest for the month of March. If you own a pair of Ray-Bans, whether they be the classic Wayfarers that Audrey and James Dean sported back in the 50s or a more modern make, Ray-Ban wants to see you wearing them! Your picture could be posted in Times Square for all to see. Click here for the entry form and more details.

And finally, a reader from the Hamilton Spectator wrote in to thank the media for finally giving Audrey Hepburn credit as a humanitarian and activist, and not just as another pretty face. It's a short but sweet letter that you can read in its entirety here.
