Entertainment Weekly review of Funny Face

I've been catching up on my Entertainment Weekly issues (I still don't know how or why I'm getting them in the first place), and I noticed that they actually reviewed the 50th Anniversary edition of Funny Face. What's more: they're actually huge fans of Kay Thompson! I've scanned it to share with you:

And in the issue after that one (I'm way behind), there's a pretty random mention of Audrey in a sidebar article:

Audrey Hepburn: A Life In Pictures review

Anova Books, the publishing house that is releasing the new picture book Audrey Hepburn: A Life In Pictures this November, was kind enough to send me an advance copy of the book to review for this site. I found it waiting on my doorstep for me after a hard day at work, so I took the cat (and the book) outside and gave it a good going-over. It's a beautifully bound hardcover book, and after a short and very sweet introduction by Hubert de Givenchy and a biography on Audrey, the rest is beautiful pictures! Most are full-page photos, and lots of the photos featured in the book are either completely new or else larger reproductions of great pictures I've only been able to find as a tiny, pixelated thumbnail somewhere online. It was so great to sit out in the sun and relax with some quality Audrey eye candy after a draining day, and this book will make a perfect coffee table book for anyone, new or old fan.

I'll write a more in-depth review in a little bit and that will be the permanent review on the reviews page, and maybe take some pictures of the book to post here and tease you with. :) Don't forget that the book will be released on November 1st in the US, and you can pre-order here through Amazon. The New Pictures

News is still at a halt here, but I've found a neat little article about Sabrina from Time, September 13, 1954. The Audrey relevant part, along with a quick- talking review of Sabrina itself, are on page two of the article, so feel free to skip ahead if you'd like. I guess at the time Humphrey Bogart didn't seem so wooden and bitter as Linus Larabee in the film, since he got a glowing review from the author (who coincidentally isn't terribly hot on Audrey). book review of Audrey Hepburn: The Paramount Years

Thanks to chipmunkalvyne from The Audrey Hepburn Circle for pointing out that there's a videotaped review of Audrey Hepburn: The Paramount Years up on You Tube. The book won't be out in the US until the end of this month (March 29, to be exact), so it's exciting to get an Audrey fan's perspective on the book while also getting a sneak peek at all the pictures. Don't worry, there's enough of the book left unseen to make your first go-round with your own copy as exciting as ever.

The Children's Hour

There's a new review up on The Fabulous Audrey Hepburn for The Children's Hour, for those of you who need or like reviews. And with all the other reviews on the site, if you have seen the film or read the book, please feel free to leave your own review! I know people like hearing from other fans as to what they like and don't like, and you really do help out. Go here for the review.



Edit: The day after I wrote this review, another one comes from AfterEllen.com! The review is a very good one, written by and for people who deal in real life with what Karen and Martha went through in The Children's Hour. While the review does contain a couple of smaller spoilers, I would definitely recommend reading it, and I think it says a lot for the film when a reader says that it's still one of the best gay/lesbian films around.
